First Published Piece ^u^

A couple of weeks ago, I was asked by my friend, Irv, if I wanted to write an article for The Filipino American Journal here in Arizona. I agreed almost immediately and suddenly found myself talking to the Filipino Club president at ASU, Francis, about the details of the opportunity. After exchanging contact information, I soon  after receive an email from the managing editor of the journal regarding the article.
I actually had a hard time coming up with a topic to write about since writing about Filipino students at Arizona State University (my school) was too broad of a subject. With the help of Mr. Aromin (managing editor), I finally found my topic. Originally, my article was supposed to be about the perception that Filipino parents tend to influence their children to major in a science or a related field; however, the end product of my writing turned out to be more of a feature on students trying to get through college. I don't have much experience in writing for a newspaper so writing everything was pretty difficult. But finally the newspaper is here and I'm just glad I got the opportunity to write for this journal. They still want me to continue writing for them, but it will be for practice on my part (meaning I will be writing for them for free ;p). I don't mind this arrangement at all since they are providing me with public exposure for my articles. But for this first article, the journal is treating for lunch at the Wholly Grill close to ASU. Yay!
(I got a lot of page space!)

Thank you Mr. Aromin, Francis, and Irv for this opportunity!

During the writing process, I interviewed Rommel, Jeson, Jeff, and Miggy. Thanks guys!

(The journal didn't include his picture for reasons I'm not sure of. It might because of the limited space available for my article. I'm sorry Miggy! ToT)
